What Is Airless Packaging?

Airless packaging is just what it sounds like. It is packaging that is sealed, so no air can contact the product, even when it is in use. How this works is that there will be a pump for dispensing the product and a plunger or piston in the base of the container that will slide upwards with the product as it is dispensed. This means that there is no space for air to get in, keeping the product isolated from outside contaminants.
Airless packaging can be used for any liquid product including: serums, oils and toners. There are even airless jars for dispensing creams.

Keep Your Products Clean

The last thing you want is clients sticking their dirty fingers in your product and then spreading it all over their faces. This can introduce all sorts of bacteria and unwanted contaminates to your clients skincare routine, possible worsening breakouts and causing the products to become less effective. Using airless packaging can eliminate this problem, your products will stay sealed for the entire time that your client's are using them. This not only eliminates contamination but also reduces any oxidization that may occur in sensitive ingredients, keeping your products fresher and more effect for longer.

High End Look

With so many high-end brands now using airless packaging including: ZO Skin Health, iS Clinical, IMAGE Skincare, and many more, it's easy to see why consumers would associate this type of packaging with high end products. Airless packaging has a really clean, professional look that can really elevate your brands appearance. While it does cost more than just regular glass bottles, the benefits that it provides to your products, and the image of your brand, make airless packaging still good value.

Less Wasted Product

Product waste in regular bottles and jars is surprisingly high just from the amount that sticks to the inside of the bottle. Airless packaging eliminates this waste. As the internal piston moves up through the bottle, it will sweep the sides of the bottle clean, leaving virtually no product behind. If your customers want to get every last drop out they can still remove the top to get any small amount left behind, but they won't find much at all. Products will last longer in airless packaging and are far less likely to dry out or oxidize so you can be sure you are giving your clients excellent value.
